What is an Exam

An exam is a tool used to test knowledge of a subject. In BrightMove, an exam refers to an online question set (multiple choice, T/F) that tests an applicant/'s knowledge associated with a subject. The subject will probably be a skill required for a job. For example, if a technical recruiter is looking for a C# Developer, they may choose to assign the applicant to take a C# exam.

How to create an exam

To create an exam, go to the "Exams" option on the tool bar in the left frame of the BrightMove screen. The "Company Exams" screen will be displayed. Choose the option "Add an Exam". You will be prompted to fill in the Exam Name, passing score, and the time limit that the person will have to complete the exam. Once that information is filled in, click the "Submit" button. You will now see the new exam name on the list of Company Exams.

The next step is to add questions and answers to the exam. To d so, click on the link associated with the exam name. Click on the option "Add a new question" on the far right side of the screen. The Add New Question screen will be displayed. Fill in the fields with the question and the possible answers. You may add more answer fields (e.g. if you wanted to have a multiple choice question with five possible answers instead of the default two) by clicking the button "Add Answer Field". Remember to check the box that says "Correct" next to the correct answer. Also, you can set the difficulty level of the question by selecting the difficulty level from the provided drop down menu. Once you have entered your question with the possible answers, and indicated which one is correct, click the blue "submit" key at the bottom of the screen.

Continue adding questions until your exam is complete. You may add as many questions as you wish. Once the exam is complete, Click the "Edit" option on the menu in the upper right quadrant of the Exam Profile, and check the box to lock the exam. This reflects that the exam is finalized.

How to edit an exam

On the exam profile screen, select "Edit" from the Options menu. The edit existing exam screen will be displayed, and you will bee to "unlock" the exam by "un-checking" the "Locked" box. Then, select the exam for editing by clicking on it's name on the Company Exams list. You should see a list of all of the questions on the exam. To edit a question, click on the icon that looks like a pencil to the right of the question. Make the necessary changes and click on the "submit" key.

How to lock an exam

Locking an exam indicates that it is complete ad finalized. To lock an exam, click on the name of the exam on the Company Exam page. Next, select "Edit" from the Options menu. Check the box next to the word "Locked?". The exam will now show as locked.

How to set an Applicant up to take an exam

To assign an exam to an Applicant, go to the appropriate Applicant Profile. In the "Options" section that occupies the upper right quadrant of the applicant profile click on "Edit". You will now be in the "Update Applicant" screen. Before assigning an exam to the applicant, first enter a user name and password in the designated fields near the top of the Update Applicant screen. This is what the applicant will use to log into BrightMove so that he or she can take the exam. Moving on, near the bottom of the screen, there is a section that is called "exams". In the Exam section, there is a list of each exam that you have created. To assign as exam to an applicant, just check the box that appears to the left of the exam name. You can assign one or multiple exams to an applicant. Once you have made your selection, click on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the Update Applicant Screen. You have now assigned the applicant a username and password and an exam.

The Applicant will need to g to www.brightmove.com and log in with the credentials that you have assigned. They will then be able to see the exam(s) which have been assigned to them, and will be able to complete and submit the exam(s).

How to delete an exam

Click on the name of the exam that you would like to delete. On the Exam Profile screen, select "Delete" from the Options menu. You will see a pop-up box that says "delete exam?" If you are sure, click "Yes". The exam will be deleted.

Where do exam scores show up?

Within the applicant profile, there is a section called "Exams". If the applicant has never been assigned an exam, the message "There were no exams found for this applicant" will be displayed in this section. If the applicant has taken an exam, the exam title, score received, and time it took to complete will be displayed in red or green. If the exam results appear in red that means the candidate received a failing score or did not finish the exam in the required time period. If the exam results are displayed in green that means the candidate passed the exam.
